AUDITOR GENERAL’S REPORT ON OVERSEAS MISSIONS TABLED IN PARLIAMENT

 

Freetown, Sierra Leone- July, 21, 2011- The Management of Audit Service Sierra Leone wishes to inform the general public that the Auditor General’s Report on the Activities of Overseas Missions and High Commissions for the Period 1st January 2003 to 31st December 2010 has been tabled in Parliament on the 18th July, 2011. Section 119(2) of the 1991 Constitution empowers the Auditor General to audit the Public Accounts of Sierra Leone and all public offices, including the courts, the accounts of the central and local government administrations, of the universities and public institutions of like nature, any statutory corporation, company or other body or organization established by an Act of Parliament or statutory instrument.  

The Auditor General’s Report gave detailed information on the income and expenditure of Sierra Leone’s High Commissions and embassies in London, Russia, Germany, Belgium, Washington D.C, Nigeria, Ghana, Guinea, Libya and Permanent Mission of Sierra Leone to the United Nations.   

The entire audit was conducted in accordance with International Organization of Supreme Audit Institution (INTOSAI) Auditing standards which include assessing or examining on a test basis, evidence supporting amounts in the Financial Statement as well as assessing presentations and relevant disclosures.
