SLPP and the threats to Sierra Leone's national security : Sierra Leonean expresses concern

If the report of the attempt by SLPP officials to transport 70 ex-combatants (Kamajors) to Freetown is correct, it must be time for the world to be blunt with SLPP leaders. The act itself is more than suspicious. It points to the covert actions of the opposition to reverse all progress in a nation now rebuilding from 10 years of war. How unpatriotic are the members of the SLPP? READ THE FULL ARTICLE :

The world will hold the SLPP Opposition responsible and accountable for any disability in peaceful Sierra Leone.

We Will Hold The SLPP Responsible for Instability in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone’s opposition party appears to be engaged in more activities than contrasting their political views with the ruling APC. According to recent reports from the nation, the Sierra Leone’s People Party (SLPP) is involved in stealthy operations to subvert the rule of law in the nation. From the DREAM TEAM letter, to Convention fever, disturbances in Kenema, Pujehun and Freetown, the SLPP gives the impression that they are bent on destabilizing Sierra Leone. They are doing so while canvassing to make the ruling APC look intolerant and oppressive. Stones, bottles, etc found on their rooftop does not present the image of an opposition that is intentional on being peaceful. It shows a violent and aggressive SLPP acting like wolves in sheep skin.

Falsely accusing prominent ruling APC party officials of rape that never happened should not be treated frivolously by President Koroma’s Government and Sierra Leone’s Judicial system. More than being irresponsible and careless, it indicates precarious maneuvers by the SLPP opposition to create fear, generate chaos, sabotage peace, and establish the false premise for reverting to gorilla warfare.

Often than not, the international community is more reactive than proactive dealing with internal issues of self-governing nations. As long as boundaries are not crossed and the sovereign rights of another nation is not infringed upon, reactive measures are most likely what nations heading for or already in a crisis get from the international community. In most cases, diplomacy is the first and probably only option available and advocated to resolve conflicts in volatile nations and regions of the world.

Taken proactive measures can be compared to the “ounce of prevention” that is said to worth “a pound of cure.” However, this is seldom the case. Based on the fact that developing trends in Sierra Leone have been seen by the world before, there is no need to wait only lives are lost and there is a full blown conflict before reacting. Practical actions can be taken now to avoid Sierra Leone’s ‘slippery slop’ trend.

Sierra Leone has seen too much bloodshed and senseless brutality in the past to lose balance and slowly slide into another conflict. The mothers, women, and children of Sierra Leone have experienced inconceivable atrocities and sexual abuse for SLPP to deceptively use the issue today for political gains. Sierra Leone has seen absurd amputations, alleged cannibalism and indescribable lawlessness in the past, for SLPP to engage in the recreation of such experiences.

The world should blame any instability in Sierra Leone on the current John Benjamin led opposition SLPP. Peace loving Sierra Leoneans who witnessed cruelties in the past should not keep quiet now. Let us call on the insensitive SLPP leaders to think about what is at stake. The Peace of Sierra Leone is off the table regardless of political differences. The SLPP must change its current course; they are leading the nation to an uncalled for conflict. Let us call on the sadistic SLPP leaders to abandon their subversive and treasonable pursuit and embark on nation building. For the APC, SLPP, others parties, Sierra Leoneans inside and outside Sierra Leone, its nation first. Therefore, peace and stability are the only options not gorilla warfare.

Fellow Sierra Leoneans and citizens of the world let us make noise now or else we will shed bitter tears later. Let us call on the international community to hold the John Benjamin led SLPP opposition responsible and accountable in no uncertain terms for instability in Sierra Leone. Unless the world name John Benjamin, and the SLPP leadership as the liable bunch for volatilities in Sierra Leone, they will continue to throw stones from their party’s rooftop, and pretend they have done nothing. The world must make it known that it is not olive branches that are seen in their hands, but sticks, clubs, machetes, stones, and bottles. We will hold the SLPP responsible for instability in Sierra Leone.
