Thursday February 9, 2012 - The APC Manifesto - the Agenda for Change. Has sloganeering got the better of the ruling party as its officials refuse to take a second look at their manifesto ? Who really owns the country - a band of a highly corrupt, intolerant and dishonest ruling party operatives and their foreign-based backers/"investors" or the people of Sierra Leone - the ordinary man, woman and child?President Koroma - is he still stuck in the one-party state awful horror of the past?

According to the APC Manifesto presented to the people in 2007 as the country prepared for those crucial General Elections, five core principles were published which the party stated would be an APC government characteristic should the party win and form the next government. This is what is in that document.

Faced with the tragic state of despair and desperation in the nation, as a result of corruption, nepotism and mismanagement of our human and material resources, the All Peoples Congress Party is committed to reverse this trend and move the country forward to its rightful position in the community of nations. In this regard the APC establishes the following core principles as its guidelines in this noble endeavour.

1. Democracy and good governance

2. Freedom, human rights and human dignity

3. Justice equality and the rule of law

4. Integrity, transparency and accountability in the conduct of public Affairs.

5. Long term sustainable development; through dependable and affordable regular power supply, sound education, basic health-care, abundant food production, appropriate housing, increased youth employment, improved infrastructure, efficient transport and basic services.

We have put in bold letters issue/issues which we believe the government has failed to honour, has failed to respect and which, given the performance of the Ernest Bai Koroma after more than four years at the helm of affairs shows that the manifesto was a smoke screen aimed at deceiving voters into putting their trust in the then opposition APC. Once in government, all those promises, especially the key ones that underpin good and democratic governance, the rule of law and the integrity of Sierra Leoneans appear to have been dumped and in its place a somewhat monolith "you are either for us or against us" ogre lacking all the good attributes that are needed in a country still trying to consolidate the peace in a fragile environment where impunity appears to be getting the blessings of the government. A government determined to use all means that it can muster to have the smoke and mirrors occupant at State House for a second term. Whipping the people with scorpions as compared with the whips of the SLPP?

Integrity - 1. Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. 2. The state of being unimpaired; soundness. 3.The quality or condition of being whole or undivided; completeness - all this points to the expectation of honesty and moral fortitude in the affairs of government and hence we do expect the Ernest Bai Koroma government to demonstrate that state, that discipline of integrity which they promised the people.

Transparency - In politics, transparency is used as a means of holding public officials accountable and fighting corruption. When a government's meetings are open to the press and the public, its budgets may be reviewed by anyone, and its laws and decisions are open to discussion, it is seen as transparent, and there is less opportunity for the authorities to abuse the system for their own interests.

Accountability - The obligation of an individual or organisation to account for its activities, accept responsibility for them, and to disclose the results in a transparent manner.

Has the President demonstrated all or indeed any of the above in the affairs of government?

Let us start with a deliberate lie put out by his many minions using the internet and other outlets including those dedicated to the manufacture of lies, more lies and damned lies to make their paymasters at State House happy. They would want all those who browse their outlets to believe that their god ernest bai koroma is - wait for it - the only Head of State in Africa to declare his assets.

We had in the past warned them of such a deliberate lie and as we did in the past, would do so again. That statement is a lie, a damned lie aimed at making a "sordid-encrusted" magician a saint.

One Captain Valentine Strasser was the first, in recent history to have done that and that ceremony was witnessed by some sections of the press at State House. As for Ernest Bai Koroma's declaration, it is the same old APC trick. We ask - which of his many praise singers would state/say that they have seen the declaration of His Excellency Di Dokta? None

None - because there was no declaration of assets and once more we advise good old JFK (Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara) not to get his future in the world of the Law soiled by been seen as a part of the great deception that is being played out in the President's circus of deceit, lies, more lies and damned lies.

And just before you go.....a piece of advice on reporting that court case against SLPP members in a country where ruling party members and their operatives including former members of the human rights abusing and murderous AFRC/RUF rule the roost with acts of impunity galore.

We notice just how experienced and "award-winning" the "independent journalists" in the pay of the government are and so would advise that they take a look at their notes while at university, schools of journalism etc etc to refresh themselves on reporting court matters.

No matter what their masters would have fed them, no matter what the master plan is for the opposition, please let them be reminded that once a matter is before the courts - it is LIVE and that they are best advised to keep their thoughts and "submissions" to themselves lest they fall foul of the law. They would be in contempt of court - a serious matter even though they could have been assured by their masters that they are above the law.

Back to Ernest Bai Koroma, PhD, SSG, BDT etc etc + BA General (Division 3. Category - Let my people go)

Integrity

What man of integrity can associate with and be happy in the company of scoundrels, alleged rapists, murderers and looters?

What man of integrity would have in his company as advisers and associates proven persons of known criminal inclinations with a tendency to commit even more thieving acts at the slightest opportunity?

What man of integrity would open his mouth and make pronouncements to the nation only to go back on his words doing the opposite with increasing reckless abandon?

What man of integrity would hear of allegations of rape and other violent acts against women and yet refuse to utter any word or whisper of apology?

What man of integrity proclaiming to be a Christian would publicly announce that he had married 100 wives dressed in white to fool the public as they performed a satanic ritual?

Ernest Bai Koroma - you have not shown that you are a man of integrity, neither do members of the company in which you delight.

Transparency

What man who wants to be associated with transparency in good governance would -

Purport to have declared his assets when he took over the purse string of the state and yet refused to make such a document public?

Go to international gatherings of serious and sober-minded people to tell stories that are far from what obtains on the ground?

Associate with so-called investors into whose hands he has now become clay to be worked upon and moulded into the wishes of these "investors" as they rape Sierra Leone of her resources while creating nests for ill-gotten gains?

Mortgage the country's resources to mean characters?

Refuse to allow the police to do its work but would rather have a pliant and submissive law enforcement agency headed by an equally malleable Inspector-General pushed into that position over more senior officers?

Refuse to reveal to the nation his list of "ambassador" and "plenipotentiaries" - and just how much of the tax payer's and donor money is being disbursed on these people who should be representing Sierra Leone's interests but remain unknown to them?

Ernest Bai Koroma - you have not shown that you are transparent in your handling of the government and one fine day you will be held to account.

Accountability

How accountable is President Ernest Bai Koroma to the people in terms of governance, good governance?

How accountable has he been when it comes to ensuring that the law is meant to be applicable to all and not only to perceived opponents - political, social and otherwise?

How accountable is Ernest Bai Koroma in terms of acting on the outcome of investigations he himself had set up?

How accountable is Ernest Bai Koroma when it comes to the key issue of managing the resources and accounts of the public purse?

How accountable is Ernest Bai Koroma in terms of holding to account all those who have been proven by the Audit Service of Sierra Leone of stealing the people's money?

Ernest Bai Koroma - you have failed in your stewardship to the people - the people you offered what now looks like a honey-coated cyanide pill and for which you and your cabal will one fine day be held to account.
