THE FIGURES JUST DO NOT ADD UP - WHO IS FOOLING WHO ON A SMOKE AND MIRRORS GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION PRESIDED OVER BY THE MAGICIAN HIMSELFThe True Father of the Nation - Sir Milton Margai

FROM SIR MILTON MARGAI TO ERNEST BAI KOROMA

"Eleven years of SLPP rule and the country was left to rot...and now thanks to the emergence of Ernest Bai Koroma in just three years Sierra Leone's capital Freetown now enjoys 24-hour electricity, all the roads abandoned by the SLPP have now been made good and state coffers that had been plundered by the thieving SLPP who left nothing for the incoming government to begin with are now full of treasures with foreign exchange levels the most healthy and the national currency at near par with the US dollar."

The above is a part of the mantra the flying toilets of the Ernest Bai Koroma praise-singing internet outlets would have readers believe although the reality is there for all to see.

The SLPP claims that they left quite a handsome sum for the incoming government as well as outgoing President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah's handing over speech on roads and infrastructure have never been disputed by even the smoke and mirrors President of an Ernest Bai Koroma.

With the incessant cry of 11 years of SLPP rule, one would be forgiven for thinking that the history of Sierra Leone began in 1996 when the SLPP's Tejan Kabbah became President, never mind the fact that nearly a year of that period was marred by the APC-supported AFRC/RUF coalition of the beasts intervention in the affairs of governance.

And so if this same government and its paid internet and other agents would in another breath have the world believe that Sierra Leone is to observe 50 years of post-colonial rule, then the figures just do not add up. Eleven + four just cannot make 50...well except under the mathematics of the APC.

The Sierra Herald will again update readers on the years of governance after Sierra Leone became an independent nation, free of the shackles of colonial rule on April 27, 1961.

Here we go

1961 - 1967 - SLPP rule - 6 years

1967-1968 - Siaka Stevens reportedly wins the General Elections to become the next Prime Minister of Sierra Leone. The military spoils the party as they prevented Stevens from occupying the top political seat of independent Sierra Leone - 1year.

1968 - 1992 - APC rule - Siaka Stevens finally gets his much-coveted prize as Prime Minister and wastes no time in consolidating his position using all means necessary - 24 years.

1992 - 1996 - Captain Valentine Strasser and the NPRC relieve the APC stranglehold, well received by the suffering masses, tried to prolong military rule and were promptly told to leave - 4 years.

1996 - 2007 - SLPP rule - The SLPP under President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah takes over with the war still raging - 11 years.

2007 - Present - APC rule - The APC re-emerges with a smoke and mirrors President Koroma at the helm - 3+ years.

So there you have it.

More than 27 years of APC rule and 17 years of SLPP rule.

Kindly note under the leadership of which party the country was taken to the cleaners with corruption breaking down all established institutions as well as the moral fabric of Sierra Leone society.

Please read this again for glimpse into how the economy was deliberately ruined as greedy and heartless politicians sold the mother country down the river of hate, deception and outright chicanery.

And even as Sierra Leoneans try to put into perspective the true story of 50 years of independence, the APC smoke and mirrors machinery has been making it all an APC party affair quite forgetting that before the APC, there was a country called Sierra Leone and more importantly that before Siaka Stevens became Prime Minister, there was a Prime Minister in the job...and he was not APC!!!!

Yearning for the mother country?
